No, not always.  But in the near future you’ll be wearing glasses if you want to watch any content in 3D.  For more about how 3D technology works, see the guides under 3D TV and 3D glasses.

In the future there will be technology that will allow you to see 3D images without the glasses however.  The technology exists right now, it is just a matter of honing it to become a viable alternative to the current glasses.  It is reasonable that we could see 3D TV without 3D glasses in 3-5 years but that’s just a guess. 

For 3D gaming, the technology is not only available, it is arriving n 2010.  The Nintendo 3DS has a 3D screen that doesn’t need glasses.  The reason this technology can’t immediately be used in TV’s is because it is made for one person to view from a fixed location, 18-24 inches away from the screen.
